I think it's funny that snow in the eastern US is the only snow that makes the news. I knew a gal from the east who moved where I live and said she was sick and tired of hearing about snow in the east. "You get more snow here, and it NEVER makes the news!" Other countries and states get more snow, but New England states are the only ones that seem to make the news!

My only theory is that the population density may have something to do with it. According to 20/20, you could stick the entire world's population in Texas and it would be less population-dense than New York. Thus, the snowstorms in the east tend to effect more people than the snowstorms in less populated areas.
